SNOWDONIA IN A DAY
"Fabulous experience running.... Really well organised, route was stunning and aid stations were second to none. Great company and made all parts of the day enjoyable" Sarah Holtom
Snowdonia in a day is an epic challenge event where you get to traverse the length of the National Park in a single day following the Snowdonia Skyline (as seen from Anglesey). It starts in the historic town of Conwy in the East going over a total of 24 mountains mainly on mountain trails and across the high mountains.
Itinerary
The route goes from the North East to the South West skyline of Snowdonia National Park starting at Conwy and finishing at Nebo covering 40 miles with over 4,800m of height gain.
Carneddau - We will have an early morning start (4am) in Bangor meeting the team, getting some much needed caffeine and breakfast before being transported to the start of the run at Conwy Castle. We start by running the length of the Carneddau. This leg has an overall distance of 29km and 1,928m of height gain finishing off in the beautiful Ogwen Valley where we will be met by our support team with hot and cold refreshments and your drop bag.
Glyderrau / Snowdon - A steep ascent to start going up Tryfan before technical running across Glyder Fach and Fawr before descending into Pen y Pass. We continue onto one of the most iconic scrambles in the country, Crib Goch with its knife edge ridge where you will be guided closely. Once over this we will be running the other mountains in the Snowdon massif before descending to Rhy Ddu where the Adventure Awaits now infamous food stop will be there with hot and cold snacks to keep you fuelled for the last leg. A total of 17.7km and 2,082m of height gain.
Nantlle - The most stunning ridge in the whole of the Wales and very runnable, the shortest of the sections at only 13.5km with a height gain of 782m but a ridge that won't be forgotten and a great end to a spectacular journey across the mountains. Finishing in Nebo you will be greeted with celebratory drinks and a momento of the incredible journey you have taken. We will then be transported back to Bangor.
