INTRODUCTION TO SCRAMBLING
These weekend courses are for the mountain walker wanting to have a go at scrambling, that is using your hands and feet to ascend rocky ribs, gulleys and iconic mountain ridges. Based in North Wales' Snowdonia National Park, with an array of classic scrambles, you are sure to have a memorable day packed with skills, tips and tricks.
- Our introduction to scrambling course is a great place to start if you are a mountain waker who is looking to safely move over steep ground. No climbing or scrambling experience is required.
- This course will give you the opportunity to learn the important basic skills involved with scrambling safely such as movement on rock, choosing the right route, how to navigate to the base of the route in addition to weather and safety considerations
- Run by a highly experienced, qualified, insured and first aid trained Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.
- Helmets and all safety and technical equipment provided.
- Small group ratios to ensure the days are inclusive and you can be provided with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to enhance your first steps scrambling in the mountains.
- Plenty of time scrambling on classic routes with progression throughout the day at a speed suitable to you.
- Sessions run in North Wales' iconic Snowdonia National Park, with a variety of scrambles to choose from such as Crib Goch, North face of Tryfan or Bristley Ridge
- Bespoke dates available throughout the year, perfect for any aspiring climber.

Dean Russell is an active trail runner , climber and mountaineer with over 20 years experience. He is a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and has the British Athletics Fell Leadership in Running Fitness (FLiRF) award. Dean has climbed all over the world, enjoying long adventurous routes in the mountains such as North face of Piz Badile (TD)but is equally comfortable on sea cliffs, boulders, sports crags and quarries with ascents such as Bloody Sunday, Pembroke (E4, 6A) Honk Down and El Chorro (7c).
