ADVANCED SCRAMBLING
This weekend course will give you a solid introduction to mountaineering where you will learn the skills required for harder scrambles with a rope in the UK or as preparation for alpine climbs in the Alps. With low ratios and knowledgeable guides you are guaranteed to be confident to tackle some of the finest mountaineering objectives in the UK and beyond.
- Our advanced scrambling course is perfect if you are looking to safely move over steep ground with a rope on harder scrambles or on alpine terrain. Previous experience of scrambling on grade 1 is required so you can get the most from your learning.
- This course will provide you with an introduction to the skills involved with scrambling safely such as belaying, rope work, movement on rock, choosing the right route, how to navigate to the base of the route, weather and safety considerations. It can also be used as a refresher before you embark on your alpine adventures.
- Run by a highly experienced, qualified, insured and first aid trained Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.
- Helmets and all safety and technical equipment provided.
- Small group ratios to ensure the days are inclusive and you can be provided with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to further your skills for scrambling in the mountains.
- Plenty of time scrambling on classic routes with progression throughout the day at a speed suitable to you.
- Sessions run in North Wales' iconic Snowdonia National Park, with a variety of scrambles to choose from such as Clogwyn y Parsons arête, Cneifion arête and Wrinkle tower on the East face of Tryfan.

Dean Russell is an active trail runner , climber and mountaineer with over 20 years experience. He is a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and has the British Athletics Fell Leadership in Running Fitness (FLiRF) award. Dean has climbed all over the world, enjoying long adventurous routes in the mountains such as North face of Piz Badile (TD)but is equally comfortable on sea cliffs, boulders, sports crags and quarries with ascents such as Bloody Sunday, Pembroke (E4, 6A) Honk Down and El Chorro (7c).
