Walking The Welsh 3000's


Enjoy a demanding and exhilarating hiking adventure that takes you across the 15 highest peaks in Wales, all over 3,000ft.  The epic journey offers breathtaking views and a true test of your physical and mental endurance. If you are looking to run the Welsh 3000's please click here.

 

  • The  Welsh 3,000's comprise of 15 mountains over 3,000ft covering a distance of approximately 30 miles and 4,000m of height gain.

 

  • Covering the mountain ranges of Snowden, Carneddau and the Glyders this is a great way to see all the Snowden giants in one day.


  • Run by a highly experienced walking guide with British Mountain Leader qualifications and first aid qualifications to ensure your safety throughout the journey.


  • Guided and fully supported walk taking the stress out of logistics and navigation so you can enjoy a spectacular day in the mountains.


 

  • This is a tough challenge but can be undertaken by any determined walker that has put in some training.

 

  • Transport to the start and from the finish, mountain guide, food replenishments (including hot snacks) and support vehicle included in the price.

 

  • This is a chance to enjoy one of the most challenging routes in the mountains.

This is an incredibly tough challenge covering over 48 km (30 miles) with just under 4,000m of height gain in one continuous push. You will be expertly guided over the following mountains:

Welsh 3000's Skyrun Trail Run
  • What do I need to bring?

    • Base layer (not cotton)
    • Walking trousers (not jeans)
    • Full waterproofs with taped seams (top and bottoms)
    • Mid outer layer (windproof) Lightweight down / synthetic jacket Head torch (including spare batteries)
    • Hat
    • Gloves
    • Water bottles collapsable (minimum 2 litres)
    • Suncream
    • Sunglasses
    • Trekking poles (optional)
    • Small personal first aid kit including any personal medications
    • Toilet roll (small amount)
    • Rucksack (40l)
    • Phone
  • What experience do I need?

    Any determined walker can complete the Welsh 3000's but to get the most out of the day it is highly recomended that you undertake some training walks that incude a good amount of height gain.

Dean Russell is an active trail runner , climber and mountaineer with over 18 years experience. He is a qualified Mountain Leader and has the British Athletics Fell Leadership in Running Fitness (FLiRF) award. Dean has competed in numerous trail races over the years and finished the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in 2017 and the Dennis Rankin round in 2019. His current focus is on personal challenges and has recently ticked off the Snowden girdle, the Welsh 3,000’s, Tour de Monte Rosa and is currently training for the Paddy Buckley.
